Apostrophe's Facebook Page
Well, here is my poster. It's a piece of crap, and I would love to hear any opinions. Dr. Rice thinks it looks cheesy, and I completely agree. I am going to make it by inserting text boxes over a saved image of a Facebook page, but I'm so computer illiterate that I'm having a pretty hard time with it. Obviously I am missing Apostrophe's profile picture. I had thought about making an apostrophe out of colored paper and getting someone to wear it. Any volunteers? I really think the content is good. Rather than bold print, I'm going to highlight the usage rules in yellow. I also have to come up with some "ads" for the side of the poster. Just pull up someone's profile page (not your own though) to get a better idea of what it will eventually look like. Monday is my "finish the darn poster" day, so any opinions would be helpful! Oh and btw...all the ridiculous white space is just b/c I couldn't get it to save as a png unless I put it in paint...and I can't figure out how to get rid of all the extra nonsense. Can I emphasize how much I wish I had had time to present to Dr. Rice's class?!?!

This probably isn't helpful but I don't have an suggestions. It may be cheesy but I really like it! I think it is really creative and you definitely catch the reader's attention. I especially like the the letter "s" comment lol!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure cheesy is necessarily bad! :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe you could change some of the people who have posted on the wall. For example, I'm not entirely sure who John Richards is (sorry if I'm supposed to know!). Also, maybe you can add more comments/funny bantering, add the "Like" option, and instead of only other people posting to the wall, have Apostrophe make some posts, too. Maybe Apostrophe can have a couple more status updates, have some relationship updates, join a "Cause," sign up for some made up punctuation game/application, friend someone new, post a link (maybe to the St. Martin's webpage?), etc.
Also, to get rid of the extra white space next time, check out this image: http://i51.tinypic.com/bg31jd.jpg I've circled some parts in red. Hover your mouse over them in Paint, and your cursor should change into a double-pointed arrow. When that happens, click and drag so that you can change the size of the canvas. :)
Hope you got some helpful hints on this--sounds like there are valuable comments, Melissa. Enjoyed working with you this semester. Wish you the best in your studies, finishing up your degree!--Dr. Rice
